SCOPE

The Treehouse is the main social space for students living in the purpose-built Elms BT9 village.

Our task was split between front and rear services:
  • at the front, we screened the service yard to create a more welcoming pedestrian arrival zone. We provided a breakout space with a variety of seating, upgraded pavement surfacing and installed street furniture. We also specified planting to provide year-round interest
  • to the rear of Treehouse we improved surfaces of the external sports area, added BBQ areas with seating, and selectively removed/pruned mature trees to improve light levels and safety

OUTCOME

We improved the welcome zone to Treehouse, adding and upgrading facilities. The planting provides low- maintenance, year-round interest but also delivers enhanced light levels and safety.
